Arribes del Duero Natural Park

Protected natural area of approximately 80 kilometers, covering parts of the provinces of Zamora and Salamanca and bordering Portugal. It is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve under the name of Meseta Ibérica.

Its peculiar orographic slope, exceeding 200 meters in some areas, the great flow of the Duero River and its mouths make it an ideal area for hydrographic exploitation with numerous dams and reservoirs.

Its Mediterranean-type microclimate, generated in this fabulous area, has given rise to the presence of animal and plant species typical of the Mediterranean region such as rockroses, lavender, and hyssop… Furthermore, in its characteristic ravines grow olive trees, vineyards, junipers, and even orange trees. A sheltered valley, protected from the wind and with abundant sunlight, gives it a mild average temperature with no frosts, which helps the great abundance of these Mediterranean species.

It should be noted that, in addition, it is one of the most valuable natural areas for wildlife in all of Europe. The cliffs and rock formations are characteristic elements of this natural space, where highly valuable species such as the griffon vulture, golden eagle, black stork, Egyptian vulture, and peregrine falcon are found, as well as the short-toed snake eagle, Eurasian eagle-owl, and red-billed chough.

A place not to be missed.
