Zamora as a UNESCO “Cultural Landscape”
Posada Doña Urraca

One of the major announcements at FITUR was Zamora’s candidacy as a UNESCO Cultural Landscape

This initiative seeks recognition of the city beyond its prestigious Romanesque heritage. It considers, for example:

  • The historical relationship between humans and nature: reflecting the great importance of activities such as mining, quarrying, farming, and transhumance. Ancient trades that shaped the unique corners found throughout the landscape.

  • Integration of cultural and natural elements: Zamora’s Romanesque heritage, its medieval architecture, the geology of the River Duero, traditional livestock farming, and popular traditions such as Holy Week — a key date for locals and international visitors alike.

  • Holy Week in Zamora: declared of International Tourist Interest, it is one of the province’s main attractions. With centuries-old floats, nocturnal processions, and a profound religious atmosphere, it attracts thousands of visitors every year. A highly recommended experience that blends spirituality, history, and art.

  • Sustainability and the future: the project encourages the renaturalisation of spaces, improvements to green infrastructure, and a form of tourism committed to respecting the environment.Posada Doña Urraca

Fermoselle, the hidden village underground

First stop: Fermoselle, the cradle of a thousand wineries. Strategically located at the heart of the Los Arribes del Duero Natural Park, Fermoselle is a natural balcony overlooking one of the most breathtaking landscapes of the Iberian Peninsula.

Its cobbled streets conceal a unique treasure: more than a thousand underground cellars, where wine has been central for centuries. Visiting Fermoselle means immersing yourself in winemaking tradition, enjoying the spirit of a village with soul, and raising a glass to the flavours that make this corner of Zamora unforgettable.

Fermoselle offers everything you could wish for: from exquisite local gastronomy to corners brimming with history, culture, and hospitality.
A destination to be experienced with all the senses, welcoming to everyone.

We look forward to seeing you at Doña Urraca, where you can enjoy everything Fermoselle and its surroundings have to offer!

Benavente is a stop you cannot miss if you are in Zamora. Its tourism strategy focuses on:

All these innovations make Benavente a sustainable, cultural, and accessible destination for all types of visitors.

Toro, city of music
